✈️ Workforce Reform for Veterans: The FAA Petition Initiative
In partnership with **Warriors In Need (WIN)
From the Front Lines to the Flight-Line — Let Them Work.
🔍 What We're Fighting For
Every year, over 200,000 veterans transition out of the military—many with years of experience maintaining aircraft in real-world operations.
But under outdated FAA regulations, they’re forced to retake exams, pay thousands in fees, and wait months just to do the job they’ve already mastered.
Meanwhile, the U.S. faces a shortage of 12,000+ aircraft mechanics annually. The solution is clear: Let veterans work.
🧾 The FAA Petition for Rulemaking
Led by Warriors In Need (WIN), this initiative has formally submitted a Petition for Rulemaking to the FAA and DOT to:
✍️ Recognize 30+ months of verified military aviation experience as qualifying for A&P testing
🚫 Waive unnecessary oral and practical exams
🛠️ Update FAA Order 8900.1 to align with military training standards
This is the administrative counterpart to the legislative Veteran Aviation Pathway Act (VAPA), ensuring we’re pushing both inside and outside Congress.
📈 The Goals of the Initiative
Fix the certification bottleneck that blocks veterans from civilian careers
Reduce veteran unemployment, underemployment, and suicide risk
Address the urgent shortage of skilled aviation technicians
Ensure fairness in federal certification pathways
📣 Take Action Now
We’ve launched a public petition to show nationwide support for this reform.
